Fanfactory Fantails - How it all began - continued... |
Above: The bird that started it all happening - Smokey Powdered Blue hen 24388. Champion Fantail & Grand Champion of Show, Summerland (2004). Champion Fantail, Ipswich Pigeon Club (2004). Right: Queensland State Champion (2006) and dual National Champion Fantail (2007/2008) - " Tiny Tim. " |
The record now speaks for itself. I believe that since importation commenced into Australia, at least a dozen National Champion fantails were the result of first cross of birds sold by me to other breeders. Since 1991, Fanfactory has won 5 National Champions and scooped the whole fantail section on a few occasions. 2006 was very memorable, with Fanfactory taking the top 6 places overall at the Australian National Pigeon Association Annual Show. The goal to beat Australia's only National Master Breeder not only came true, but the record reflects 5 consecutive wins against him! Now I find it difficult to show against him for reasons that I do not understand. All this is fine, yet the Master Breeders Award seems to elude me due to political reasons. Nevertheless, the pleasure and friends that I have experienced is well worth while. Many fantail breeders in Australia now have fantails of style that previously they only dreamed about. In fact, I believe that there may be only one or two fantail studs that don't have Fanfactory blood figuring predominately in their show team. I am pleased that our American friends also have recognised the quality of the Fanfactory fantails by placing a photo of Tiny Tim, Andalusian old cock of great show record, on their Around the World Fantail Pigeons Home page. Understand however, that although Tiny Tim is a good bird, he is still is only part of a work in progress and has requirements that need improvement also - as do all the birds in the stud. A serious dose of reality keeps our feet firmly planted on the ground! Howard Piper January 2010. |
